The Value of Rising Early: 3 Reasons to Stick to your Early Routine
I can hear it now the jarring sound of the alarm clock!! How many times have we all hit it and rolled over to hopefully dose back to sleep for another 10 minutes? 1,000 or more times? I know I have done it too many times to count!
A few years back, I had a New Years resolution that I would rise out of bed and welcome the day! No more hiding under the covers. I stuck with it and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made!
I have often been teased for my early bedtime routine. At first it bothered me but what I realized is that I truly value rising before the sun. It is now part of my life and enriches my soul.
What I want to share is that getting up after a good night of sleep, rather than forcing yourself to wake up with an alarm, is a productive and powerful way to start your day. This is a luxury that almost anyone can afford and truly becomes addicting. As it becomes a habit, you begin to want more and more of it, as it fills your whole day with joy!
If you, like me, made a resolution to getting up early but it didn’t stick the first few times…keep at it. Here are a few reasons why you won’t regret it.
Silence is Golden
When you get up in the wee hours of the morning, you have the whole world to yourself. That’s right…silence!!! There’s something peaceful and soothing when it’s just you enjoying the quietness of morning. There’s no rushing around grabbing breakfast while packing lunch while juggling car keys, kids, and pets. Just… peace. Getting up when the house is quiet, and I am alone, has become a much needed and celebrated part of my day.
You Get Stuff Done
You get up early and you start your day without delay. No avoidance has you putting off chores, errands, meditation, reading or workouts. If you know it has to be done, you get it done and keep going — and you do it all day.
Your Happiness Lasts All Day
Unlike a night owl who needs tons of coffee to get going, the early riser feels accomplished by sun rise and is raring to go. You will find that your creativity and ideas begin to flow quickly and rapidly. Adding in a road map and routine to the morning is even a better choice. Check out my blog post here.
If you are on the fence about trying out an early morning routine…go for it! Do it for 21 to 30 days and see how your life changes. I can honestly say you will see the value of rising before the sun.
