My CrazyCOLORFUL Midlife Journey
A new decade is on the horizon for me in a few months…Yes, I know…I do love a new week, a new month, a new season, as it feels like a fresh start but 40 is a big deal in our culture. The months and years around this landmark is a time of reflection on what we have accomplished so far and where we are headed. With a lot of hard work and intention, I can truly say, I am now in a place where I can embrace and cherish it.
For many years, I certainly wasn’t this passionate…or fit… or happy! Growing up I turned to an eating disorder to solve my problems and over the years that turned to diet pills and in my 20s and early 30s my weight yo yo’d with the use of “diets” and chemically processed foods….all of this left me feeling hopeless and lost. In my early 30s, as a new mom and wife, I was lost and in a fog, not really knowing the direction I was headed…I had all the things you could want; I graduated with a degree, I had a job, I was married, a wonderful and healthy daughter but I really struggled to feel gratitude and joy! It wasn’t until after I had my second and youngest daughter that something switched and I knew I was stuck and needed help to refresh my life!!!
Family, kids, spouse, job, home, all take center stage in this season of my life. In my mid 30s I realized I loved this season but I wasn’t present in all it offered. I was beginning to let it pass me by. I knew I was made for MORE in this life that I was floating through. I had unused talents, and passions, and skills that were buried! That’s when I knew I had to take charge of my health and start to BUILD my own life.
Through dedication to fitness and a clean diet, personal confidence began to grow inside me. After spending many years as a certified birth doula, I realized I have always been drawn to supporting women during a time of personal growth and transition. A few years ago, I experienced my own intense personal growth through self care. I realized my passion is to spread every single bit of knowledge I learned and lived to women and mothers juggling the demands of a growing family.
Since then, I have researched and developed systems, created new habits that keep me focused on my path to a healthy mental and physical lifestyle. I have walked in the same footsteps as many of the moms I have worked with; challenged with overcoming disordered eating, postpartum stress, lack of motivation, low energy levels, and feelings of inadequacy. I empathize with your roadblocks and desire for increased strength, health, weight loss, and life balance.
This blog is designed to do just that and create a thriving community and audience to share how to live a life filled with passion and inspiration in a balanced way.
I have gone from being an unhappy mom and wife to a fitness coach and instructor and CEO of the CrazyCOLORFUL Health and Fitness! In addition to fitness and food, I am passionate about childbirth, postpartum health and my journey as a mom. I am a wife and a mom to two wonderful girls Emma (10) and Finley (5). We are living a CrazyCOLORFUL life including our joy and our struggles, but that’s all apart of our story!
